Ryan S. Cowan, Esq.

Mr. Ryan S. Cowan, Esq. is a licensed attorney from Los Angeles who specializes in the areas of Public Policy, Government and Taxation (especially as it relates to cannabis businesses). He received his B.A. in Political Science along with minors in both Business and Economics from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2011. He graduated cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2015.  While in law school, Mr. Cowan won several awards including the Scott H. Racine scholarship for excellence in the field of tax law.
While in law school Ryan worked in a variety of different fields and several offices, including in-house counsel for Docstoc Inc. just before their acquisition by Intuit. During his time there, Ryan worked on a variety of issues, including copyright, employment, and privacy policy compliance. He also worked for the Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service regarding business and non-profit tax compliance. There, he helped assist during settlement negotiations on behalf of the United States government. Additionally, Ryan spent time at Andersen Tax helping provide financial and tax consultation. While there, he worked in many different areas of tax law, including corporate, international, personal, and trust tax compliance.  
Finishing law school in Washington, D.C. while taking classes at Georgetown University Law Center, Mr. Cowan worked for the lobbying firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck doing lobbying work on Capitol Hill by working closely on intellectual property, tax, finance, and energy legislation.
Before becoming a partner at Reccius Law, Mr. Cowan worked at private tax firm where he addressed and resolved complex tax issues for countless clients facing IRS action.
Mr. Cowan and founding partner, Benjamin S. Reccius, Esq., are also close friends from law school with a proven track record of successful teamwork and results
